A UNESCO-listed world unique, with aragonite decoration you will not find anywhere else.
What awaits you here
A UNESCO-listed world unique with magnificent aragonite decoration that you will not find anywhere else in Slovakia. The Slovak Karst area hides several dozen underground treasures – unique caves of which Slovakia can rightly be proud. One of the most remarkable is the Ochtinská Aragonite Cave, which was declared a national monument for its unique decoration and in 1995 was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The cave is located near the town of Revúca, in the so-called Gemer zone, in the Slovak Ore Mountains. The artificial entrance to the cave overcomes a height difference of 19 metres, and 104 steps await you. The road to the cave leads from the state road between the village of Štítnik and the town of Jelšava, turning off at the Hrádok hilltop (2 km). The car park is approximately 300 m from the cave.
