Muránska planina
A national park of rocky slopes, mountain meadows and more than 310 kilometres of trails.
What awaits you here
Muránska planina welcomes you with the majesty of its steep rocky slopes, the charm of its mountain meadows and the beauty of its deep wooded valleys.
Wherever you look, there is beauty. In Hrdzavá dolina you can admire the Ťureň rock tower, the mighty rock gate beneath Kľak, the karst sinkholes on Veľká lúka and the impressive views from Poludnica.
The underground is riddled with caves, the largest of which is Bobačka, a national natural monument. But you would look in vain for an entrance, as it is not open to the general public.
The Muránska planina area is criss-crossed by a network of year-round hiking trails with a total length of more than 310 km. The best known are the educational trails: Muráň Castle, Stožky, Hradová, Tŕstie and the Jakub Surovec Educational Trail.
You can explore it on foot, by bike, on horseback and, in winter, on cross-country skis. It is beautiful at any time of year, in summer or in winter.
